Burckhardt Compression India inaugurates its new manufacturing facility at Kondhapuri, Dist. Pune

The new manufacturing facility of Burckhardt Compression India, a fully owned subsidiary of Burckhardt Compression AG, Switzerland, is being inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Valentin Vogt, CEO of Burckhardt Compression group at 11 AM on April 9, 2005. In early January this year, Burckhardt Compression acquired the compressor division of Sulzer India Ltd.
Burckhardt Compression AG, Switzerland, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of reciprocating compressors with sales amounting to US $ 125 Mio. and a global sales network. Burckhardt Compression has 540 employees and over 40 agents around the world.
Burckhardt Compression is the only manufacturer of a complete series of labyrinth piston (LabyŽ), process gas, and hyper compressors for numerous applications. Their compressors are used in the field of oil refining, chemical and petrochemical industries, air separation, as well as gas transport and storage. Burckhardt Compression has a worldwide service network.

The transfer of the compressor division from Sulzer India to Burckhardt Compression India, is a logical step on Sulzer's continued effort to focus on its core activities and Burckhardt Compression's effort to further expand geographically. Burckhardt Compression India, Pune, continues its operation under the leadership of the same management team at the same locations. The company continues to develop, design, manufacture, commission and service the current range of reciprocating compressors, trunk piston high pressure air and gas compressors and will also extend the crosshead compressor know-how of Burckhardt Compression in India.
Burckhardt Compression has played a major role in organizing and establishing the trunk piston compressor business in India since 1988 and has been serving customers on the Indian subcontinent for over a century.

Burckhardt Compression India plans to launch a new model of trunk piston compressor in the Indian sub-continent. It will also be the 'Centre of Competence' for a range of Process compressors from the Burckhardt Compression stable. These compressors will be engineered & manufactured for the Global market from the Kondhapuri facility.
Burckhardt Compression India continues to develop compressors for special applications for the Indian Defence. One such development is at an advanced stage at the moment.
The new manufacturing facility has been designed for efficient material flow, ease of operation, logistics and has provision for doubling the shop area. The test facilities for the compressors will be at par with International standards and can accommodate even the planned new product launches.
